Scale
Steak and Vegetables
- 1 Tbsp olive oil (divided)
- 1 red bell pepper (thinly sliced)
- 1 green bell pepper (thinly sliced)
- 1 large yellow onion (thinly sliced)
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 16 oz shaved steak (or thinly sliced ribeye steak)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
Garlic Bread
- 1 loaf French bread
- 3 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasonings
Cheese and Garnish
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- ¼ cup chopped Italian parsley
Instructions
- Prepare Vegetables: Heat half of the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced red and green bell peppers and yellow onion. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add 2 tsp minced garlic during the last minute of cooking, then remove from heat and set aside.
- Cook Steak: In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add shaved steak, sprinkle with kosher salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and smoked paprika. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mix in the sautéed peppers and onions until combined.
- Prepare Garlic Bread Base: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Slice the French bread loaf lengthwise. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasonings. Brush this mixture generously over the cut sides of the bread.
- Assemble the Garlic Bread: Place the bread halves on a baking sheet cut side up. Layer the provolone slices evenly over the bread, then spread the steak and vegetable mixture on top. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over everything.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread edges are golden and crisp.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle chopped Italian parsley on top for freshness, slice into 8 servings, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use ribeye for a richer flavor or substitute with sirloin for a leaner option.
- For extra spice, add red pepper flakes to the sautéed vegetables.
- Make sure to slice the bread thickly to hold the toppings without becoming soggy.
- This dish is perfect for sharing as a game day snack or casual dinner.
- Leftover garlic bread can be reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
