Description

A simple and healthy homemade jello recipe using natural fruit juice, unflavored beef gelatin, and a touch of honey. This dairy-free, gluten-free, and paleo-approved gelatin is a delightful treat for all ages without artificial dyes or additives.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups juice (any natural fruit juice)
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored beef gelatin (such as Vital Proteins or Great Lakes)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or agave, or cane sugar, optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom The Gelatin: Pour 1/2 cup of the juice into a liquid measuring cup or small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin powder evenly over the juice and stir to combine. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the gelatin thickens and becomes very thick and grainy in texture.
  2. Heat The Remaining Juice: While the gelatin blooms, pour the remaining 3 1/2 cups of juice into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until the juice is steaming hot but not boiling or simmering.
  3. Melt The Bloomed Gelatin: Add the honey or your preferred sweetener to the hot juice. Then add the bloomed gelatin and stir thoroughly until the gelatin is completely dissolved. This ensures a smooth texture.
  4. Set: Pour the gelatin mixture into a 2-quart ceramic pan or any heat-proof container (such as 8x8, 9x9, or 11x7 inch). Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until fully set.
  5. Serve & Store: Once set, enjoy the jello immediately or store it in the refrigerator. For the best texture and flavor, consume within 4 to 5 days, although it remains safe to eat for up to 7 to 10 days.

Notes

  • Use natural fruit juice without added sugars or preservatives for the best flavor.
  • Do not substitute beef gelatin with collagen or protein powder as it won’t set properly.
  • Honey or other natural sweeteners are optional but add a nice balance to tart juices.
  • This recipe is dairy free, gluten free, and paleo approved.
  • Storage in an airtight container helps maintain freshness.
