Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 head cabbage
- 2 tablespoons light olive oil
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 0.5 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients and preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Slice the Cabbage: Cut off the bottom of the cabbage so it can sit flat, then slice it into 1-inch thick steaks. Arrange the slices in a single layer on a large sheet pan or casserole dish.
- Add Flavorings: Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the cabbage slices and sprinkle the minced garlic on top. Season with salt and ground black pepper according to taste.
- Cover and Bake: Cover the pan or dish tightly with aluminum foil to keep moisture in. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the cabbage cores are tender and easily pierced with a fork.
Notes
- For added flavor, try sprinkling some smoked paprika or chili flakes before baking.
- You can use regular olive oil instead of light olive oil if preferred.
- Serve these cabbage steaks as a healthy side dish or enjoy them as a vegetarian main meal.
- Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and can be reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
